Where do animals live?

The children had a great time today using a range of non-fiction books to research animals and their habitats. They were really excited to find out new facts and share them each each other too.

Learning through the week

Once again Starfish Class have demonstrated their love for learning through the range of activities chosen to take part in during child initiated time. We saw a Florence Nightingale inspired hospital, a Hindu God and a dragon from a discussion text just to mention a few.

Food glorious food

After carefully watching our cress seeds grow, today we finally got to eat some in our delicious egg and cress sandwiches. Child initiated time

It was lovely to see the range of activities that the children were choosing to enjoy this afternoon. Activities chosen included our own Seabrook shop, creating patterns and lots of other creative art work too.

Which way?

Starfish Class spent some time outside this morning using mathematical language to give directions. After drawing their own route they then had to direct each other around the course. Can they use forward, backwards, left, right, quarter turn and half turn to direct you?

Which animal lives here?

Continuing our learning on ‘Living Things’ the children have created habitats for their chosen animal this afternoon. They have really thought about which features to include in order to provide protection, food and water.

Living things and their habitats

Today in Science the children were set the challenge to gather information about an animal of their choice. They used information books to work collaboratively to find out about the habitat of different animals. I wonder if they can explain to you where and why their chosen animal lives?
