Counting Fun

They children put their maths skills to the test this morning by using a game on the iPads to quiz them on addition and subtraction.

Does it melt?

To discover more about the properties of materials we used heat to test which items would melt. After describing how different items looked and felt, the children made predictions on what they thought would happen. Then the fun part began – watching to find out!

Can we follow instructions?

With just a simple set of instructions to follow, Starfish Class had to work together to read and decipher the different steps to make paper aeroplanes, pirate hats and wrap a present. They found out that it was trickier that it seemed! But we did have lots of fun testing the aeroplanes outside afterwards.

What to choose?

During child initiated learning this afternoon, the children were building Tudor houses, testing their maths skills and immersing themselves in imaginary drawings. Nothing was impossible!

I wish …

In preparation for writing a wishing story, the children have been rehearsing their ideas by filming each other on the iPads. They were very critical of their story telling skills and quick to point out where they could make improvements.

Lean on Me

To inspire our discussion in P4C, we listened to the song ‘Lean on Me’. The children spent some time trying to decide what they thought the song was about and then they simply enjoyed the music.

Back in Time

Today the children have designed and made their own houses from the time of the Great Fire of London. First they had to decide how to cover their boxes. They then had to work out how to secure them together before thinking about the extra detail to add, like windows and wooden beams.

Number Bonds Fun

What a fun way to practise our number bonds! The children did a great job taking turns to find the missing numbers today.

Poppies of Peace

Starfish Class created their own poppies this afternoon in readiness for Remembrance day. They carefully selected different materials to fill the template of their poppy and the end results looked stunning.

An Autumn Walk

It was lovely to see the children out and about enjoying a cold autumn morning today. They discovered a range of different coloured leaves, vibrant berries and lots of empty branches in the trees.
